Panel applications are OPEN NOW for HotaruCon 4....
What is a Panel?
They're your opportunity to flex your creativity to our audience of course.
We love when panels contribute to the convention themes of anime, manga and all things Japan, but don't let that limit your creative mind!
Want
to share your LARP experiences? Run an hour long 1 shot of Dungeons and
Dragons? Explain how you planned your trip to Japan? Have one of your
friends stand in the middle of the room making awkward poses while
attendees draw them? We'd love to host it.
Suggestions for panel ideas include:
- Workshops: Whether practical or presentation only, walk your fellow attendees through the craft of your choice
- Interactive: Command the room for quizzes, gameshow parodies, live dubbing, anything that gets people involved
- Informative: Invite attendees to learn more about your interests, could be travel, LARP, idols, animated penguins etc.
- Performative: Got your own mini show that'll capture your audience? This is your time to shine
- Discussion: For those that want to have a stimulating conversation or just a bit of a giggle over something
Your panel can last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours over the weekend. You don't have to use up all the time but the minimum slot is 1 hour which should include your set up and take down. Let us know if you need a specific set up, the more detail the better. We leave a minimum of 15 minutes between panels for room turn over but if you need more time we'll work that into the schedule.
Just let us know in the application form how long you want in the schedule and some time slots you'd be happy with, we'll do our best to work with them. If you select any of the major HotaruCon events from the 'I am interested in attending' list your panel will not clash with them.
Panel applications are not first-come-first-served and will instead be reviewed individually
As
we're an 18+ event you are welcome to submit tasteful 'after dark'
themed panels. These will be carefully reviewed and clearly marked on
the schedule.
Successful applicants will be contacted by the
Events Liaison in due course. If you have any other questions about
panels you can check out our dedicated FAQ or Contact Us.
Panel runners and their
co-hosts are eligible to claim the Event Runner badge to add to their
lanyard collection.
